So what are you guys all about?
This local chapter of ATO was founded due to the discrimination our founding members received when trying to join the Greek system, so we are founded on the principle of acceptance. We do not discriminate based on sexuality, religion, creed, race, lack of hygiene or any other characteristics. As long as you're a cool guy with a good sense of humor, then we'll welcome you. That's one of the best things about ATO -- the diversity and backgrounds of our different members.
What sort of things do you guys do for fun?
We do a lot of things besides just have parties, although those are always fun. We typically schedule brotherhood events to go do different activities, be they going on roadtrips for the day, going to concerts, etc. At our parties, we have a basement specifically for dancing, and then we play lots of rockin' music, or people can hang out upstairs and do whatever there as well. We also just hang out at the ATO house on weeknights, which can always lead to something fun.
How much can I expect to be hazed?
Don't expect any hazing of any sort. We will never make you do anything against your will, including making you drink until you puke or something equally as gross and dangerous. We pride ourselves on not hazing or treating our members poorly for whatever reason, and you will never experience any sort of harm when you're hanging out with us, regardless of when you join.
How many people are in ATO?
Right now there are 26 active members of ATO, which is the largest it's been in a few years. We typically hover between 20-30 members. We keep our fraternity small because it gives members a chance to bond with each other in a way that you don't typically see in the larger fraternities. We're small enough to where it feels way more personal of an experience, instead of you being faceless in a crowd.
How much do I have to pay to be a part of this fine organization?
Our current local dues are very cheap -- only $125 a semester, and $50 in the summer. Whoever told you that you can't put a price of fun and happiness was wrong! Also, if you want to live in our house for extra fun, our rent is $165, utilities included. This is one of the cheapest places to live in Kirksville, and there's always someone to hang out with there.
